Fast Click System - Innovative joint for the Barlinek floorboard
Barlinek - the wooden floor manufacturer - has developed an innovative joint for floorboards called the Fast Click System. Work on the design of the joint and preparation for its implementation took nearly two years. The solution is very innovative, previously unheard of in mass production of floor coverings, and takes advantage of the latest technology created through collaboration with the chemical industry.
The invention was developed by Barlinek's research and implementation department in collaboration with a company which is a leader on the innovative solutions market. Technology using synthetic polymers was used in the joint, as elements bonding the floorboards on their short sides. The new joint system significantly simplifies and quickens floor assembly It makes laying a floor faster and easier than before. The simplified assembly of the floorboards in the new system means that all it takes is to insert the floorboard in the lock on the lateral joint, slide the short edge into the neighbouring floorboard in the strip of floor being assembled, and push the floorboard into the base of the floor. After this is done, the floorboard is simultaneously mounted on both the lateral and transverse (shorter) side. The new solution completely eliminates the need to hammer or push home to achieve a joint between floorboard connected on their short sides. During work on the joint, when choosing physical properties of the invention it was extremely important to consider the possibility to eventually dismantle the floor surface assembled.
The Fast Click System was registered in the European Patent Office in June 2009. Barlinek presented this innovative solution in January this year at the Domotex trade fair in Hanover. The company intended to commence mass production of floors with the Fast Click System from the second half of 2010, but due to the great interest which the new joint met with at the trade fair, management is considering introducing it into production earlier.
